Surface Pattern Design

Stand-alone designs and Repeat Patterns

I love to make Patterns. Starting with a design and seeing it transform when it repeats is so much fun. It’s hard to describe the feeling of seeing those patterns then come to life on items and fabrics you can hold in your hand.

Each design shown as the repeat pattern and then as it looks repeated 4 times
so you can see how the patterns expands on a bigger scale

Red Rump Parrots

I have these beautiful little parrots as pets, the males are such beautiful colours and I love the way they chatter away to each other. In this design I teamed them with beautiful red gum blossoms.

Kookaburra

On our farm we have lots of Kookaburras. They love to sit on the Hills Hoist Clothes line and watch for worms, swooping down to pull them out of the ground. I have loved their laugh since I was a little girl. It always makes me smile when they are having a laughing conversation from one end of our property to the other.

Sturts Desert Pea

Stunning intricate wildflowers that bloom in the desert and bring it to life after the rain. I remember the first time I saw this amazing flower.
One of my favourite Australian Wild Flowers. I have painted it many times over the years.

Sturt's Desert Pea 2

A more painterly Sturt’s Desert Pea Pattern.

Waratah & Wattle

I love the beautiful lines that these wattle branches create and the contrast with the Yellow of the Wattle and the Red of the Waratah.

Hellebore

I love these flowers in beautiful shades of Pink and Purple

Autumn Rain

Autumn is such a magical time when the heat of summer starts to fade and the light and colours turn rich and warm and a flush or rain mellows the landscape.

Countryside

A Fun Whimsical Countryside Pattern. It would be cute on children’s clothes and could be used as a border print with a block colour. It would also work well for children’s bedding & soft furnishings.

Thistles

My father was born is Scotland and my love of Scottish things are in my DNA. I love Thistles especially their fluffy purple heads.

Violet Mixed Media

Mixed Media is such a free art form. I love to create it digitally on my ipad. It is so nice to use different illustrations as part of the design. I really enjoy the challenge of making digital painting look like traditional mediums. The big added bonus is being able to take all the different art supplies in digital form where ever you go.

Roses

I painted these beautiful Peach Roses for my friend Rose. I dedicate this pattern to her. I made a her a coffee mug with the design above.

Rose Garden Canvas

The Soft Aqua and pink of these watercolour roses and flowers make a beautiful delicate pattern.

Indoor Jungle

This Pattern is inspired by my indoor plants.  They bring oxygen and life to our living room.

Jungle Leaf Mandala

Another pattern using my indoor plant leaves for inspiration but this time in a mandala. I love this one in a half drop pattern

Butterfly Blue

I can just imagine butterflies taking flight like jewels dancing against the blue sky.

Soft Autumn Flowers

I love the soft Autumn colours of this design with folksy flowers.

Watercolour Floral Diamonds on white

These soft watercolour florals looks so pretty in the diamonds and circles that this pattern makes.

Watercolour Floral Diamonds on Navy

The same soft watercolour florals this time on Navy of Dark Green. Patterns look so different on different colour backgrounds. They can work well together to Co-ordinate or Contrast with each other.

Happy Flowers

These whimsical flowers make me so happy that I named them Happy Flowers I think they look gorgeous on the navy background. I dedicate this pattern to my Daughter Bec from Beacon Innovative Solutions. She teaches about emotions brings Happiness & Joy, to the lives of so many children and adults.

Paisley

This was so fun to create. I have been fascinated by Paisley since I was a little girl. The pattern looks great on so many different background colours.

Mixed Media Butterfly

Another Digital Mixed Media Design. I love the soft colours in this design and the different elements that come together to make this pretty pattern

I have been working on some new Designs.

I love Abstracts and Mixed Media. I find it an exciting challenge to create this type of Art digitally. So I have been painting some Abstract backgrounds in Procreate and experimenting with lots of different brushes.
I  made some cushion designs and then decided to transform the backgrounds into repeatable patterns.
Then I embellished them. I am having so much fun with this.

Berry Forest

Set of 5 Cushion Covers

I thought this colour palette of purple, blue, green and peach would co-ordinate well with my deep, dusty, grey leather lounge suite.

The repeat pattern I created using my abstract background.

Abstract and Flourishes

I made 2 versions of this one and I love how it came together so beautifully.

Ceramic Inspiration

I created this design for a very dear friend of mine who is a Quilter. I had the fabric printed for her birthday. The motifs that make up the design are based on vintage ceramics that she collects. She loves bold, bright colours, so I chose a colour palette with the colours she loves.
I designed the fabric collection for a quilt along with solids of the same colours. There are Hero patterns for the main panels and the repeats, I had it printed in different scales and background colours. Plus a border repeat.

4 up repeat.

That’s my colours

Babushka

Years ago I made a quilt for my granddaughter who loved Babushka Dolls. I made applique dolls of different nationalities and painted their faces. I used different quilting fabrics that I purchased. I loved the quilt and decided to revisit the design. I scanned to dolls and used my own fabric designs for their bodies. I plan to make this into a set of greeting cards with matching wrapping paper.
